Human traffickers are handing out fake stamps and stamp pads from the Bureau of Immigration to enable their victims to get pass from the airport officials.
The modus was discovered on Thursday when a Filipina, who was about to board Cathay Pacific from Manila to Dubai, had to undergo a secondary inspection by the Bureau of Immigration.
Upon constant interrogation, the woman admitted that she is about to go to Dubai and work as a household help. The victim also admitted that she met with an agent who provided fake documents such as departure stamp.
The traffickers instructed the woman to “stamp both her passport and boarding pass”. She was then offloaded to Clark International Airport after being suspected as an undocumented OFW who is disguised as a tourist.
The Filipina is now at the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) for thorough investigation, said Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang.
To make sure that human traffickers won’t sneak undocumented individuals, the BI already deployed additional agents in all international airports across the country.
