A lot of stories had been written about the sacrifices of the unsung heroes of our time, the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Unfortunately, their hardwork and sacrifices were not reciprocated with gratefulness by their employers which led to numerous unfortunate incident. Such as this one shared on social media.
In the Facebook account of a certain Bhong David, a video of an OFW working in Saudi Arabia was asking for help because another OFW was planning to make an LPG tank explode as a way to capture the attention of the authorities. Being desperate, she thought that the authorities will give attention to them if some will get hurt or will need medical attention.
Apparently, more than 400 OFWs are currently staying in a Bahay Kalinga in Riyadh who already wanted to go home to the Philippines. They were deprived of having sufficient food to eat, and had felt depressed because of their situation. As such, some even promised to help them for their repatriation but none of the promises materialized.
According to the post, 1 whole chicken was for consumption of 45 people and 1 egg for 4. Often times, they only have porridge (lugaw) to eat because there was no enough budget to sustain their needs.
Among the 400 OFWs, some of them were molested, victims of rape, maltreated, starved by employers and with unpaid salaries.
Bhong shared the video of the OFW with high hopes that their concern reaches the authorities here in the Philippines who would be able to rescue them from their miserable condition, the soonest possible time.
