Last December 25, 2019, a Filipina in Kuwait fell from the 5th floor of her friend’s apartment. Before she passed away, officials from POLO –OWWA were able to visit her in the hospital.
POLO went to check the situation of the OFW identified only as A.B.L who was confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Adan Hospital.
According to her friends, the OFW jumped from the apartment after feeling depressed and sleeplessness. She is having this trouble for a week before she decided to end her life.
It is said that the Ministry of Interior’s Operation Department received a report about an expatriate who fell from the fifth floor of a building. A medical team was rushed to help the victim. It was then that they found out that she is a Filipina.
The Filipina was still conscious when the medical team arrived and they rushed her immediately to Al-Adan Hospital. However, the doctor pronounced her expired soon after.
A forensic examination will be conducted to the cadaver of the Filipina to make sure that there is no foul play over the incident.
The cause of the depression of the Filipina remains unknown. Depression is a serious medical illness yet common among Filipinos working outside the Philippines. For families of OFWs, do not forget to check your loved ones every now and then or talk to them so as to minimize their homesickness and longing.
