In United Arab Emirates, over 40 Filipino nationals were imprisoned because of illegal drugs. They were currently imprisoned in different prison cells in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Northern Emirates.
With regards to the law currently being implemented in UAE, a total of 25 years imprisonment will be charged to those individuals caught possessing illegal drugs.
According to Paul Raymond Cortes, Consul General, there are still a lot of Filipino in UAE being imprisoned due to illegal drugs.
Their continued reminder goes to all Filipinos not to get involved in the trade or use of illegal drugs so as not to suffer the consequence.
