Qatar Gives More Job Opportunities to OFWs for Opening Almost 5000 Positions for Hire

Almost 5,000 job positions are now being offered by Qatar to Overseas Filipino Workers, according to Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) which was reported via ABS-CBN News.

The mass hiring for various positions is part of the projects done by Qatar government as preparation for hosting Fifa World Cup for the year 2022 which signify that Qatar’s economy stays stable amidst facing a diplomatic crisis in the Middle East.

Here are some of the positions needed for the said hiring:

  • Nurse – 1,882
  • Electrician/ship electrician – 1,389
  • Mechanical engineer – 497
  • Carpenter – 313
  • Laborer – 266
  • Mason – 220
  • Welder – 151
  • Foreman – 61
  • Mechanic – 61
  • Plasterer – 24

For an OFW named Ronald Gabing, this opens opportunities to get hired for having sufficient experience as a welder.  He considers applying for the said position after the business which he established from the income which he earned from working in Saudi Arabia for 4 years did not turn out well.

Aside from the above-mentioned positions, there are other various positions available totaling to 4,875 which can be accessed through POEA’s website: www.poea.gov.ph.

Interested applicants may browse on their website for a complete list and the accredited recruitment agencies to facilitate their applications.

Meanwhile, amidst Qatar’s mass hiring, some still fears for the possibility that work contract is dismissed due to unsettled disputes after Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries ended their diplomatic ties with Qatar. -via ABS-CBN
