Eat Bulaga hosts Senator Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon have sparked outrage in the Muslim community by wearing Muslim clothing during the Halloween special of the popular noontime show.
This offended the local government of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). This was also disapproved of by netizens.
ARMM governor Mujiv Hataman stated that Sotto and De Leon have displayed insensitivity by associating Muslims as being scary as zombies and ghouls.
Hataman demanded a public apology from the hosts and the noontime show.
Facebook users also criticized Sotto for wearing a proper attire of the Arab people on Halloween.
Meanwhile, the other hosts of the show were dressed up as witches and other characters in horror and fantasy movies.
Hataman wanted to remind Eat Bulaga how often Muslims are discriminated in society, frequently stereotyped as terrorists.
He also reminded the hosts that they have criticized the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) over a controversial, stereotypical suspect sketch.
The Muslim community have launched an online campaign, calling for the stop of the discrimination and stereotypical representation of Muslims.
