Immigration Canada vows to cut short processing time for sponsorship

Immigration Canada promises to shorten the processing time for the sponsorship of spouses, children, parents and grandparents.

Casino employee Rommel Yap said long processing time for the sponsorship forced them to leave his wife Blessing’s children behind in the Philippines. The years of separation took its toll on the children.

This year, they plan to apply again before Blessing’s daughter turns 19 next year and becomes ineligible for sponsorship. However, the latest estimate from Immigration Canada shows processing time for a dependent can take as long as 16 months.

Yap is not the only immigrant who spends years waiting to be reunited with their families in Canada.

“Kasi parati sinasabi ng panganay eh ‘How I wish you were here to take care of me like this.’ Yong kasi babae, di ba, so wala siyang ibang mako-confide-an. Yung bunso naman, siyempre nandoon yung misis ko pa, siya ang nagtu-tutor eh, so napabayaan, parang bumaba yung grades,” he said.

Immigration Minister John McCallum said that inventories have been reduced, so the processing times will shorten over the next two years.

He said that if the ministry was able to process 25,000 Syrian refugees within four months, they may be able to cut down the processing times for the sponsorship of family members.

Why would Canada import grand parents or parents of old age? Canada basically want to bring someone on welfare and will never assimilate into the Culture. Wow, nice Canada import more low IQ people like this guy in the comments “Sarbjit kaur” thinking this is an immigration site. Also he wants to bring bring his deported husband along with his parents and his brothers since 2000. Canada this lady obviously is on wealth-fare for last 15 years. Why was her husband deported? Was he not willing to vote for bigger government?
