Group of Filipinos in Saudi Arabia Sent to Prison After They Accepted Alcoholic Beverages Given By Employer

Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in Saudi Arabia. This regulation does not only apply to its residents but also foreign nationals residing and working in the Kingdom.

However, it seems like there are still Filipinos who cannot follow this simple rule and gets themselves in trouble for violating it.

In a Facebook video, a Filipino in Saudi Arabia can be seen explaining their situation while inside a jail facility in Saudi Arabia. According to the OFW, they were given some alcoholic drinks by their employers which they accepted.

Right then, they were arrested by the police and was sent into prison for breaking the law of not drinking alcoholic drinks. The OFW said that they were not even able to defend themselves in front of the police officers are were simply put to jail. They were a group of 10 Filipinos.

Inside the jail, the OFW decided to take a video of themselves and posted it online. In the video, the OFW said that they were set up by their employer who was also the person who gave them the beverages. Now, he regrets accepting the alcoholic drinks as it was used to send them to prison.

Netizens, meanwhile, reminded other OFWs in Saudi Arabia that alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in the Kingdom and this regulation is being disseminated to them even before their respective flights.
