Ex-OFW Sarah Balabagan recently announced a controversial revelation. She was impregnated by Kapuso broadcaster Arnold Clavio when she was still 17 years old.
“Ang ama po ng panganay ko ay yes, si Arnold Clavio po,” says Sarah in a Facebook live.
According to Sarah, she decided to reveal everything after keeping it to herself for 22 years because the issue kept on resurfacing. She also revealed that her husband and family gave her the consent to speak out the truth about the birth of her first-born child.
“Kaya ko ‘to ginagawa dahil after 22 years, lumabas na naman. Sabi nga nila, walang bahong hindi lalabas. Hindi naman po ako nalungkot dahil by God’s grace, masaya na ako sa buhay ko,” says Sarah.
“Paano ‘pag wala na ako sa mundo? Tapos hindi ko ito kinorek? Baka mamaya maging multo pa ito sa anak ko.”

Some of the rumored father of Sarah’s first child was former ambassador Roy Seneres and Rey Langit, former broadcaster. Meanwhile, Sarah confessed that though Clavio was the father of her child, it was the former ambassador together with her family was the one who helped her throughout the pregnancy.
“Si late ambasador Roy po ang tumulong sa akin nu’ng ako ay nabuntis. Tinulungan niya ako para hindi kumalat sa public. Para hindi masira ang image ko noon at ‘yung image nu’ng taong ‘yun,” says Sarah.
“Kinupkop ako at itinago ni ambassador pero ang nakakalungkot, e, sinasabi nilang siya raw ang ama.”
According to Sarah, she first met Clavio after the broadcaster was tasked to cover her case.
“Nagkakilala kami ni Arnold nu’ng panahong ako ay nakapiit pa at dinalaw nila ako doon. Naging close kami noon ni ‘Kuya Arnold’… At nu’ng unuwi ako sa Pilipinas noong August 1, 1996, isa po siya sa mga nag-cover ng kaso ko. Naging exclusive lang niya ang story,” Sarah said.
It can be recalled that Sarah got imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates after she stabbed her 67-year old employer for trying to sexually take advantage of her. The initial sentence of Sarah was death penalty but was later reduced to one year imprisonment as well as 100 cane strokes. A payment of blood money was also paid and sponsored by a businessman in the Philippines.
When she returned to the Philippines, her life was made into film starring Vina Morales in 1997.
“May mga nagtatanong sa’kin, ‘Galit ka ba d’un sa nag-post (about her love child with Arnold)? Ang sabi ko nga, ‘Hindi po. It’s God’s will para maitama ko na ‘yung mga dapat i-tama’,” says Sarah when asked if she was mad to the person who exposed her secret.
Sarah is currently in Las Vegas living with her family. She is a mother of five and advocates her life into helping other immigrants who were victims of trafficking.
Sarah is also a devout Christian now and eventually ended her relationship with Clavio long ago. The broadcaster’s wife also had a talk with her and she asked for forgiveness about their affair. Clavio’s wife eventually forgave her.
