More jobs for displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) as it is recently announced that they will be the priority for the hiring of contact tracers.

According to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Secretary Eduardo Año confirmed on Monday that qualified OFWs will be the priority in the hiring of 50,000 contact tracers for the government’s intensified move to fight the COVID-19 in the country.

During the meeting, “Talk to the People on Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19), Año said that 9,600 will be assigned as contact tracers in Metro Manila, 5,992 will be placed in Central Luzon and 5,810 will be handling the Southern Tagalog.

Furthermore, the DILG chief thanked President Duterte for signing the P5-billion “Bayanihan to Recover as One also known as Bayanihan 2 Republic Act 1149” giving the agency the capability to hire more contract tracers. Qualified applicants will be trained and assigned to their respective assigned places.

Recently, 89 barangay captains were placed under a 6-month preventive suspension due to their involvement in anomalies surrounding the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP). Año also said that ongoing 357 administrative cases are being investigated on another 416 barangay officials for the said offense.

As for the criminal aspect, 259 individuals were individually charged at the Prosecutor’s Office so to make them accountable to the law.

These charges filed against government officials prove that the government is not tolerating corruption among its officials.
