The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Riyadh promised to render a helping hand to an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who accused her employer’s nephew of sexually assaulting her.
According to Welfare Officer Raquel Kunting, they will make sure that the said OFW will be rescued and taken to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh.
The “Kaagapay Ako ng Bawat OFW Advocacy Group” is already keeping in touch with the Saudi recruitment agency of the Filipina for the immediate rescue of Ema, not her real name.
It can be recalled that the video of Ema went viral online as she appealed to the public for immediate rescue.
According to Ema, she was sexually abused by the son of her employer’s sibling. The Filipina said that the one who abused her was her own ward.
It is said that there was a video of the perpetrator going inside the room of Ema where she was abused. But the video was taken down by her employer.
“Tinawagan ako ng tunay kong amo at dinala ako sa bahay niya at sinabi niyang ‘i-delete mo ang video’ sa pagpasok ng alaga ko sa kwarto,” says Ema.
“Ipina-delete niya ang ebidensya na yun at kinuha nila ang cellphone ko, sinigawan pa ako at dinilete po nila ang live ko na ‘yun na ebidensya ko. Tapos sabi ko na ipa-medical po ako. Ayaw po nila, at sabi nila tumahimik lang daw ako.”
It was also found out that Ema was working for the sibling of her original employer. After the incident, Ema was taken back to her original employer’s home.
Ema tried to ask for help from her recruitment agency so she can return to the Philippines as soon as possible but to no avail.
“Na trauma po ako sir. Isang liinggo po akong walang kain, wala po akong magawa. Kasi po naka dalawang taon at dalawang buwan ako sa kanila ganon ang ginawa nila sa akin ginawa niya po akong baboy,” says Ema.
Ema is determined that she won’t let the incident pass.
“Gusto ko po manawagan ng tutulong na mahuli po ang pamangkin ng amo ko at makulong siya para mawala na po yung tuwing natutulog ako siya ang nakikita ko. Dapat po na makulong siya ng mawala na siya sa isipan ko sir ang pambababoy na ginawa niya sa akin.”
