It’s a lucky year for these three female Overseas Filipino Workers – Aida, Jebel, and Lolyn – as they were declared the winners of a lottery in the United Arab Emirates. The three Filipinas won AED 100,000 each (approx. P1,503,757).

In the Mahzooz 116th Super Saturday Draw, the three OFWs were the lucky winners of the draw held last February 18, 2023.

Mahzooz, which means ‘lucky’ in Arabic, holds a weekly draw and has given price money already amounting to AED 363,000,000 in the past two years.

There were 731 winners of AED 1,551,300 in the 116th Super Saturday Draws and 10 people will be sharing the second prize which is AED1,000,000.

The Winners

Jebel works as a customer service representative in Dubai for the past 10 years. She is 34 years old and a mother of two. She frequently joins Mahzooz, buying tickets every weekend. She joined the most recent draw as she usually does, but she was astonished to see her name and winning ID listed. Jebel has modest aspirations. Beyond immediately buying new clothes for her two little children, she hopes to establish a small business back home in the Philippines.

Lolyn, on the other hand, is a personal driver in Fujairah. She is 39 years old and has been living in the UAE for 17 years. The OFW participated only a couple of times and simply chose the winning numbers on a whim. She heard from her friend that she won the draw and it brought her sleepless nights.

“I couldn’t sleep the whole night. I was on cloud nine and couldn’t stop smiling. I’m ecstatic! This money will be used to build a new house for my family back home. I have not yet informed my family of my victory, but I am confident they will be pleased. This money provides me with the opportunity to change my life. Thank you, Mahzooz.”

Aida, 54 years old, couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw that she won the draw. The OFW stayed in Dubai for 13 years and regularly participates in the Mahzooz draw.

“The UAE offered me the opportunity to work and save for my future and the future of my family; thanks to Mahzooz this prize money is indeed going to help me settle all of my financial liabilities.”

Despite winning, the three participants are still planning to participate in Mahzooz because they still hope to win the grand prize which is AED10,000,000 (approx.. P150,375,714).
