MANAMA, Bahrain — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Philippine Embassy in Manama formally recognized 14 Bahraini recruitment agencies for their compliance with the newly prescribed USD 500 minimum monthly wage for Filipino domestic workers.
The recognition highlights the agencies’ proactive efforts in implementing the revised wage standard in the Kingdom of Bahrain and ensuring that Filipino household service workers receive fair and dignified compensation. The Philippine government also expressed its appreciation to the Bahraini authorities for fostering a regulatory environment that enables employers and recruitment agencies to comply with international labor standards.
The certificates of recognition were awarded during the Alagang OWWA Caravan and Hala Bira Fiesta Season 3, held on January 30, 2026, in Bahrain. The ceremony was led by DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, together with Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain Gines Jaime Ricardo Gallaga, OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, and Labor Attaché Orville Ballitoc.
Also present at the event were DMW Undersecretary Jun Rasul, Assistant Secretary Julyn Ambito-Fermin, and representatives of various Filipino community organizations in Bahrain, who witnessed the recognition ceremony.

This milestone aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure decent wages, humane working conditions, and the fair treatment of Filipino migrant workers worldwide.
With this development, Bahrain joins the growing list of Middle Eastern and GCC countries whose recruitment agencies have successfully implemented the new minimum monthly wage for Filipino domestic workers, further strengthening labor protection mechanisms for OFWs abroad.
