The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sharjah Police have arrested 39 runaway maids.
The maids had run away from their sponsors and were residency law violators.
Most were of Filipino and Indonesian nationality.
Colonel Ibrahim Al Ajil, Director, CID, said: “All the maids resorted to working hourly, hoping to get a lot of money in a short time.”
He called on members of the community to refrain from hiring such staff because of security concerns and crimes.
