You are being fooled by your contractor all these time! This viral Facebook post is receiving praise for showing how apartment dwellers should act with regards to the screws in their door plates.
“My dad gave me this advice a long time ago when I moved into my first apartment,” she said in the viral post. “Most contractors install the (door) plates with the supplied screws which are only a half inch long and come out with one kick by a burglary. (My dad) installed 4 inch screws in their place that go through the door frame and into the framing of the house. They can kick for a long time before they get tired!”
An image of both screws were also posted accompanied by her hefty words of wisdom. The Facebook post was written by Mariana Harrison, Texas Realtor.
According to her, the advice was given by her own father the first time she transferred to her own apartment. Apparently, the first thing that her father did was to change the screws of her door plates and his reason was very amusing!
This should be an awesome home security tip that you never thought for years! Your contractors are fooling you all these time. They are using half inch long screws that burglars can easily remove.
Nonetheless, if you will use a 4 inch screw (just like what Mariana’s father did), burglars cannot easily enter your house.
Burglars will have to make a bunch of noise before they can enter your house. By that time, you are already call for a rescue.
