A lounge dedicated to being used by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) will be built very soon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
According to the General Manager of the Manila International Airport Authority Cesar Chiong, the Overseas Filipino Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) together with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) decided to push through with this matter.
“We met with the OWWA representatives, we’ve already identified the area sir and we’re working on the project so matutuloy na po yun sir (so this will push through),” says the general manager during the interpellation of Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Representative Wilter Palma.
In a previous panel briefing, Palma suggested that MIAA should set up amenities which is solely dedicated to “modern-day heroes”, the OFWs. This lounge will be used by OFWs waiting for their flights or during instances in which their flights get canceled. The suggestion was highly welcomed and a timetable for the creation of the OFW lounge was asked.
“Magsa-submit po kami ng more detailed timeline sir (We will submit a more detailed timeline sir) after the detailed discussions with OWWA,” asked the MIAA chief to Palma.
“Inuna lang po namin sir is yung area pati ho yung location (We just prioritized the area and the location) because we’ve identified the location to be near the government center,” says Chiong.
The OFW lounge will be set up on the left side of NAIA Terminal 3.
