OFW in Hong Kong Exposes Horrible Experience with Abusive Employer, Made to Sleep on Top of Washing Machines and Suffered Verbal and Emotional Abuse

We can never tell what the future holds for a Filipino who leaves the country to work abroad.  Being an OFW means facing the uncertainties, it may be a good or a bad experience, contrary to what others think of as living a comfortable life and full of luxury.

Recently, a Facebook page named Hongkong Connect – HKC had posted an experience of an OFW who was obviously not treated fair by her employer.  The page shared it on social media so OFWs will be cautioned not to be able to work with such one allegedly mean employer.

According to the OFW, she was emotionally abused because the employer seemed to be always angry for reasons she never understand.

Also, the employer might have lost hand in teaching their children good morals as the OFW said she was verbally abused by their 7-year-old child. Apparently, the child had been uttering bad words like f*k, silly, stupid and worst helper every time they were being trained by the OFW to become organized and respectful of others.

In Hong Kong, employers are required to provide a bed measuring 6 feet to the helpers.  Sad though, the OFW had been sleeping on top of two washing machines, measuring less than 6 feet and enduring the stingy smell being at the laundry area.

Worse, as a helper should be given 24 hours as off from work, the helper was required to be home at 7:30pm because she still has chores to do when she goes home including bathing her employer’s children and telling them stories when they go to bed.

Of course, that wouldn’t let her rest until she’s all done with it!

Good thing, the OFW had already left the abusive employer.

Hongkong Connect hopes that this post reaches the attention of many so that helpers won’t fall working for this employer.
