The Philippine government through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (OWWA-ARMM) extends its assistance to around 3,500 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families who had been greatly affected by the Malawi siege.

The good news had been recently announced by OWWA-ARMM’s chief program and services division officer, Odin Abdullah.

According to Abdullah, OWWA members and those that maintain an active membership will be receiving a cash assistance amounting to Ten Thousand (P 10,000.00) pesos.  On the other hand, inactive members with expired membership will be receiving Five Thousand (P 5,000.00) pesos.

Abdullah will be validating the list submitted by village officials from Marawi City totalling to 7,000 people.  However, their office will be trimming down the list until they are down to only 3,500 recipients.

The list will be carefully checked and validated so as to ensure that only deserving and rightful beneficiaries would receive the assistance adhering to OWWA’s goal in granting its financial aid program to the Marawi victims who up to now are in the midst of repairing not only their homes but also their lives after being greatly affected by the siege physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
