Saudi Employer Beats Pinay OFW for Refusing to Clean 3 Other Houses, OWWA Vowed to Help.
In a report of GMA News’ State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Thursday, a Filipina domestic helper is needing help after she was allegedly abused by her female employer in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The OFW claimed that she was locked inside a room after she refused to clean 3 other houses. The employer beat her up and tried to confiscate her cellphone. However, the OFW did not give it to her.
In a video, the OFW was emotional as she narrated what happened and afterward asked for help.
“Itong amo kong babae, nananakit pa ito. Ayoko kasi ibigay itong cellphone ko sa kanya. Please po tulungan niyo ako.”
She also shared that every time she would refuse to do chores other than those stipulated in their contract as the scope of her work, the employer would threaten to have her arrested by authorities.
“Sasabihin ko isang bahay lang ang kontrata ko, sinasabi nila sa akin ipapahuli nila ako sa pulis.”
Meanwhile, the mother of the OFW is worried about the condition of her daughter.
“Magulang ka, mararamdaman mo kung ano ginagawa sa anak mo. Nagsumikap lang naman ‘yung tao na makatulong sa asawa niya, sa anak niya.”
As a response, the OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) through its deputy administrator, Arnell Ignacio vowed to assist the OFW.
