A Filipino domestic helper in Saudi Arabia was hit in the head by her employer using a hammer.
According to DZRH News, the victim was identified only as “Maria”, 30-year-old OFW who arrived in Saudi Arabia just last March 15, 2019.
Aside from hitting, she was also allegedly taken advantage physically by the child of her employer. The local agency of the victim which is Incorporated Services Development is yet to comment on the issue involving their deployed domestic helper. Their international counterpart is also mum on the issue.
The Filipina is appealing for help from the president for her fast repatriation particularly because of her health issues. Maria had bruises all over her face and neck due to the bad treatment of her employer. She also gets dizzy most of the time.
Just this month, more than 100 Overseas Filipino Workers from Saudi Arabia who was badly treated by their employer successfully returned to the Philippines accompanied personally by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III. These OFWs shares different stories of bad treatment perpetrated by their employers.
There are still about 200 OFWs left in Saudi as their documents for repatriation is being readied by the government. The continuing issue of bad treatment towards OFWs particularly in Saudi Arabia is very alarming. Though the government is doing the necessary move to stop such activities, their efforts remain fruitless.
