The family of an Overseas Filipino Worker in Qatar is seeking help after they found out that the OFW is being maltreated by her employer and went missing for a couple of days.
Christian Carl Tandog, the boyfriend of OFW Marites Bolano Batobalonos, asked for help through Bombo Radyo Koronadal after his post the OFW went viral.
According to Tandog, his girlfriend want to return to the Philippines as her contract with her employer has already expired since February. However, her employer refused to give her plane tickets because it is too expensive, they said.
For months, Marites waited for her employer to give her the plane tickets to no avail. Until such time that she confronted her employer.
But instead of agreeing, her employer decided to call the police, and Marites was taken to the police station. Before the incident, Marites confessed that her employer maltreats her, and her salary is not given to her on time.
What worries her family in the Philippines now is that Marites is nowhere to be found. They tried to contact her through her phone but the OFW’s employer allegedly broke her phone.
They also had someone check her in the prison but there were no logged records of her detainment. For a couple of days, they couldn’t find the OFW.
Her family also contacted her agency in the Philippines but it was now unreachable while her agency in Qatar refuses to help.
There is still no news of Marites’ whereabouts as of this moment.
