Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is in need of 75 mentors to teach foreign languages to Filipino overseas workers.
In ABS-CBN’s report on Sunday, TESDA’s Deputy Director General Alvin Feliciano admitted the agency is lacking teachers who will handle lessons on foreign languages to aspiring workers abroad.
“Gusto natin sa mga OFW, ‘pag pumunta sila sa ibang bansa, ready sila doon sa lengguwahe, at the same time, alam nila ‘yong kultura.”
In particular, TESDA needs teachers for Japanese Nihongo, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic, and English. Under the new courses, they would likewise be needing teachers for French, Bahasa Indonesia, and German.
TESDA welcomes all interested applicants including those who would like to take teaching on a part-time basis and foreigners who have working visas in the country.
As a requirement, the teacher should have an experience on teaching the language and is good both in oral and written communication, computer literate and has a certificate from TESDA.
With knowledge on foreign language, TESDA believes it will serve as an advantage to the OFWs as they will be able to communicate well and express themselves to foreign employers.
