An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who worked as a household helper in Saudi Arabia passed away because of an accident. But her family refuses to believe that it was a mere ‘accident’.
The deceased OFW was identified as Rodelyn Villanueva, 27 years old, from Midsayap, Cotabato. Villanueva took care of a 14-year-old teen with a disability, the son of her employer.
On January 26, the house of her employer accidentally caught fire which took the life of the OFW and her ward is in critical condition in the hospital.
But Villanueva’s family in Cotabato refused to believe that the OFW really passed away, considering that her remains were not seen by her sibling who was also in KSA.
According to the brother-in-law of Rodelyn, they visited the residence of the OFW’s employer but their entire house didn’t catch fire. Rodelyn’s belongings were not burned by the fire. However, her phone is nowhere to be found.
The siblings of Rodelyn were also not allowed to see the remains of the OFW. Her Facebook messenger is also active.
The family of the deceased OFW is asking for help from the government for the repatriation of Rodelyn’s remains and for her case to be investigated.
Meanwhile, the agency of Rodelyn promised to help in the repatriation of her remains and provide the necessary benefits to the family of the deceased.
