It’s a sad reality that a lot of instances have been documented about OFWs who suffered in the hands of abusive employers more particularly in parts of the Middle East. Saddest part is, they feel helpless and hopeless not knowing where to run for help when they need it most.
A post has been shared by Castanares Gallardo Kapid on his Facebook account showing a picture of a certain OFW named Mama Defin, whom he claimed as his “kababayan” (fellow countryman). According to him, Mama Defin has been maltreated by her employer in Kuwait.
Kapid was bursting in anger and cursed the employer whom he said should pay for the medical expenses of Mama Defin, being the one responsible for her injuries.
He also cursed the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait saying they have to look after their responsibilities and need not to be reminded most of the time before they will perform their duties.
However, he made an appeal and asked OWWA (Overseas Workers Administration) to assist the OFW with her medical expenses.
