Most OFWs are eager in investing something out of the hard-earned money they get from working abroad. Cars are a common investment of OFWs who wants to roam the country when they get home for vacation. However, the problem with cars is its high maintenance and care that it frequently needs. But how can OFWs take care of it when they are out of the country?

Here are some practical tips to consider:

Store your car indoors

Storing your car indoors offer the best protection from all possible elements. But if you do not have the space to store your car indoors, you can opt to invest in a weatherproof car cover. But with weatherproof car cover, you need to secure that no water and dirt go under your car or it will cause damage to the finish. Still, it is important to let someone look after your car from time to time

Clean your car thoroughly before storing it

Give your car an ultimate cleaning before you store it. Anything that sits in it for a long time will cause permanent damage to your finish. You can do a wax job so dust and other elements can easily be removed.

Avoid engaging the parking brake

Engaging the parking brake is usually a good idea, not unless you will park it for an extended period. Doing so might fuse the drum or rotor on the brake shoe or the brake pad from the friction material.

Inflate your tires to maximum pressure

All tires have a maximum recommended pressure but it will just gradually lose a certain amount of pressure over time. Therefore, inflating your car tires to its maximum pressure is necessary if you are planning to store it in a long time.

Attach a smart battery charger

Attaching a smart battery charger lets your car avoid getting totally discharged. A completely discharged car loses its capacity to hold a charge.

Follow these things and you will surely get home to a good condition car, ready to take on your next road trip!
