Because of the increasing number of incidents concerning the manipulation of balikbayan boxes, the Bureau of Customs decided to launch something that will help the questions of OFWs be answered fast and accurately without further hassle.
It is actually a “user friendly” mobile application which is basically made to estimate the custom’s taxes and personal duties according to the declared value by the user of the app. The said app have been carried out to respond to the huge number of tax queries that BOC is addressing daily.
The mobile app can be easily downloaded in the Google Play Store. It instantly provides fast access to questions related to customs tax and its duties.
Another useful feature of this app is its “Balikbayan Box Tracker”, which lets the OFWs abroad track their shipments to their loved ones in the Philippines.
The BOC also said that the mobile app is fully functional and users can easily access information such as the item’s value and the tax computation for each balikbayan box.
Nonetheless, this app should be available in iOS very soon.
