Have thoughts of quitting your work as an OFW?

A 42-year-old OFW named Wena who hailed from Batangas had worked in Hong Kong as a domestic helper for quite some time now.  Her first employers were an elderly couple who according to her had given her a hard time.  That is why, after finishing her contract, she had decided to look for a different employer.

Wena was still unmarried, thus, she doesn’t have kids.  However, she was fond of children so she opted to look for an employer where she had to look after kids, as a nanny.  Soon, it seemed like her wish had been granted as she was able to work for a family in Mid-levels to look after 2 children, a 10-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl.

On her first month of working as a nanny, Wena claimed that she almost gave up because the children were so hard to please.  What she thought of to be such an amazing job became something “strange” to her because the children were so aloof to her, especially the little girl.

But instead of giving up, she thought of asking for advices from her friends in order to win the heart of the kids.  One of the tips given to her was to be able to prepare delicious meals which they can’t certainly resist.

Until one day, Wena tried to cook a dish which her friend had taught her  which they assumed the children would certainly love.  Soon, she found the two longing for her dishes while they became closer to one another as each day passes.

Wena is now working happily serving her two little “bosses”.

May this story of Wena inspire some OFWs who were feeling hopeless and helpless working a job which they do not like or working for employers who were hard to please.  May they continue to persevere until they found a working place where they would perfectly fit in.

Don’t quit and keep on striving!

After all, “winners never quit and quitters never win.”
