Immigration Counters in the Philippines, First To Launch Face Detector In All ASEAN Countries

The Immigration Counter in the Philippines already have a Face Detector to easily determine if the passenger is wanted for a committed crime. This latest technology is even made by Filipino programmers!

A Face Detector apparatus was attached to all Immigration counters in the Philippines. It uses an infrared technology to easily determine if the passenger’s passport is fake.

Previously, the passenger’s name is the sole basis for a standing warrant. Now, through the help of the face detector, passengers are advised to face the camera and it will be matched to the database of International Police, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Tourism and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.

So far, no one was caught trying to escape the country despite their criminal acts.

According to Michael Robles of the Bureau of Immigration, the installation of this latest technology aims to intensify their efforts to avoid human trafficking and terrorism.

Philippines is the first country in ASEAN, who was able to use this kind of technology made by Filipino programmers. It is now being used in 10 different terminals in the Philippines including NAIA Terminal 1,2,3, Clark International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Davao International Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Kalibo International Aiport, Laoag International Airport and Zamboanga International Airport.

Aside from that, it offers a very big help to lessen the long queues of passengers without sacrificing their security.
